Opportunity Opportunities

It's so hard sometimes, not to take the opportunity, when you are at an opportunity shop, to buy that "bargain". Cos if you don't buy it, someone else will. My Mum works at an op shop, unfortunately it is in Victoria, but she gets some great stuff, and most of it she pays $1.00 per article. Yep, you heard right, ONE DOLLAR $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Unfortunately here most op shops are way overpriced. Mum got these old canniesters from work, probably for $1. She very kindly gave them to me when I went home recently.
She also got me this gorgeous vegetable dish, I serve our steamed vegetables in it all the time. And soon we will have a lovely supply from our new vege garden.
I bought these cases recently, the bottom one was from a garage sale. The middle one was from an antique shop on View Street, Bendigo. And the little one on top I got from the op shop in Yandina. It is an old school case and oh so cute !
This retro looking desk I got for my son Mst O from the Endeavour Foundation warehouse at Kunda Park. It cost $50, if Mum had gotten it from her op shop it would have been - yep - $1.00
I found this set of six retro espresso coffee cups and saucers at the markets in Yandina on the weekend. The whole set cost me $8 which was okay. They are quite groovy.
My husband enjoyed a coffee in our new cups, I can't wait to use them for a dinner party.
I also picked up a gorgeous little old Brother typewriter for $5 from a garage sale, the kids love it to play on it. They had no idea what it was. I used to have one when I was a kid. I love to hear the tap tap tap sound of their little fingers on the keys. I also picked up some vintage Dr Seuss books, I love these. And so do my kids !!

MARKET SET UP & HOT SELLERS

I wanted to share with everyone just a few pics from Mammas markets yesterday. I think the market was very successful, there was a lot of familiar faces there to say hi as they did the rounds. Mammas market is a boutique market, full of gorgeous stuff, I'm just sad I did not have the opportunity to have a good look around. Never mind, there will be another chance in February.
These are a few of my top sellers Christmas stockings were popular
My favourite, made from recycled lambswool blankets
My other favourite stocking
(this was sold to a lovely lady for her baby boys first Christmas)
It was so nice to meet the people face to face who are taking your creations home to their house.
My owls were seriously popular, sorry to those people who missed out, but there will be more hatched in the new year
I love the combination of the pistachio green chenille and vintage floral fabrics
This my practice run at home in the week leading up to the market day
And this is the real thing above and below
TMe on the left and my friend Ming Lee on the right who helped with the setup infront of my stall. My new eva mei & me banner in the background which I made especially for the market
Me with Oliver & Lucy, my gorgeous twins, they hung around the stall all day and helped to give out the change, played their DS and ate market food.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind wishes for success in my very first market day. It was a lot of fun but also a lot of hours of work went into creating each and every article that I had for sale (over 100 items were hand made totally by myself - except for the 3 or 4 door stops that Oliver stuffed for me, he is a great little helper).
Don't know if I could do it again on such a grand scale.
In the meantime I look forward to visiting Mammas markets in February as a customer - this way I can get to have a really good look around.
Only 6 sleeps til Santa comes !

Mammas is over

AND MY FEET HURT..................
Well, all my owls have new homes. I sold every single one of them today. Wish I had made more. I will upload some photos of my market stall in the next day or so. But right now I have to drive to Brisbane to collect my parents from the airport. They are coming here from Victoria for Christmas, so it's an exciting day, first the markets this morning, now my parents arrival this afternoon.
It was lovely to see so many people I knew at the market today.
Hope you all managed to get some lovely gifts for Christmas.

One more sleep

It's happening
TOMORROW
SATURDAY 18TH DECEMBER
9am - 1pm
Buderim Memorial Hall
be there or be sorry !
I'll be there, come and say hi, look for my eva mei & me banner
I'm busy with final preparations, last night did not help as we had a hail storm, water leaking in through windows and no electricity. That will teach me for leaving things to the last minute.
Couldn't print my price tags etc etc
Couldn't sew any last minute items
So I went to bed at 8pm and watched the lightning from our window
It was good to get a few hours extra sleep to catchup on all I've missed since sewing for this market.
I CAN'T WAIT !!!!!!!!!!

Whats New !

Y and I managed to get a photoshoot in this morning. I have to say I am loving some of the colours with these beautiful fabrics I got in Malaysia. Thought I would share a couple of my favourite pics with you all. This dress is so simple. The fabric moves in the most beautiful way. The colours are to die for.
I love this simple shot of the neckline
On the left here you can just see the outline of the embossed flower - it's a lovely detail.
This top I actually made a couple of months ago but never got around to photographing it. J has modelled it beautifully today and Y has captured it in this photograph. Once again it is a simple design but with a nice frill detail on the sleeve. It flows beautifully and I think it goes great with denim and lace.
I want one of these for moi !!!!!!

Mammas Markets - December 18th at Buderim

I have started sewing madly for the Mammas Markets coming up in December at Buderim. This is a sneek peak of the skirts I will be taking along to sell - a cute little chenille skirt complete with heart applique. Lucy loves it - its so comfortable and soft to wear. I am planning also to make some matching beach bags from the chenille complete with matching appliques.
Don't forget, this is a great opportunity to get yourself some special christmas gifts for friends and family and you can support the local crafties at the same time. Why give mass produced stuff when you can give a unique gift handmade with love.
