Ipad bag for my Mum

My Mum has ventured into the techno world for the very first time in her life.  On her recent holiday here she bought herself an Ipad.  Mum has never ever used a computer, so it was all a new language but she is picking it up and enjoying her new world.  Being able to contact friends at any time of the day was a huge attraction, and I have to say I love being able to flick her an email at any time with just the smallest thought that comes into my head.  Also sending her photos of the kids at the push of a button means she never needs to miss out (she lives in Victoria, we are in Queensland).   She needed a bag to carry her Ipad around with her on her travels.  This is where I come into it.  So I made her this tote bag made to measure from a recycled denim dress.  Complete with the waistband and buttons still intact - I love the finish.  The design came together very quickly, and I have to say I really do love it - wouldn't mind one myself, that would be IF I had an Ipad.  But I don't....

Japanese cotton pants for little Japanese girl

These pants are my first creation using two of my new fabrics purchased from Malaysia. A beautiful soft eggshell blue cotton which features a lovely floral pattern in a mixture of greens, pinks, mauves and creamy white. The waistband, cuffs and back pocket feature a fabric from the same story but in a khaki type green with similar flower pattern - they contrast beautifully. They were going to be for my Madeit shop, however my neighbour has her beautiful little neice from Japan staying with her at the moment. She is about to turn two and Ming Lee thought these little pants would make a great gift. So I finished them off and they will be wrapped and presented to Youie (not sure how to spell her name sorry). I thought that was so appropriate that my first garment made from Japanese cotton be worn by a Japanese girl. She is a beautiful little thing and I wish I could have her here permanently for a little model. I am hoping to post photos of Youie wearing her pants in another week or so so keep watching this space.

Austin Powers Flower Groove Thingy !!!!!!!!

I wanted to make something with this floral fabric my Mum had sent me - I would love to know where it came from and how old it is. She found it at St. Vinnies. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. Hopefully though it will sell soon, and I can post it off to its new owner.
I was wanting something that was quick and easy but that also looked good, to make to add to my shop - I decided on bloomers. I love this pretty rose fabric. Wish my daughter was still young enough to wear them. Actually, I wish I was young enough to wear a pair myself. They sold almost immediately so it was obviously a good choice. Need to get myself some more pretty fabric and run up a few more pairs.
