From Pillow to Post

There is nothing like a hand made gift.  I don't often receive them but I do give them on a fairly regular basis.  My daughter Lucy had a little friend who was having a birthday -Talia - it was her 8th birthday and she is horse crazy.  I was horse crazy too at her age and eventually got my very own horse when I was 11.
So - what to give her for her birthday.  Obviously something to do with horses would be good.  So  I figured a pillow for her bed made with horse fabric would be pretty good.  So here it is.  I quilted the love heart - I used denim for the front panel embellished with the loveheart and  then a mixture of denim, the horsey fleece and a vintage pink chenille for the back.  I also embroidered her name on the front and I think it turned out kind of sweet.   I would have loved it for my 8th birthday !

Winter has ARRIVED !!!

Aaaaahhhh it's winter - I never thought I would say that with such a note of happiness in my voice. As I age I am starting to welcome winter more and more. And with winter comes a change of fashion so I am pulling out the fleece and corduroy and having lots of fun with it. Right in the middle of winter we are heading off to Malaysia for 3 weeks. I have made a great little travel dress for Lucy in lightweight t-shirt material (needs no ironing which is just perfect). Below is a new style winter dress in a beautiful red fleece - goes great with my new scarves I have in the shop at present. Will work really well with a skivvy underneath and tights. (see pics below) I also finished Lucys groovy green pants, they are a kind of Kylie Minogue knickerbocker style with rouching down the side of each leg. Just photographed them for the blog but can't seem to get the colour to reproduce accurately, they are a lot more vibrant than the picture shows (below). Anyway, hope you enjoy. cheers, k.

New listings on Madeit.com.au

My new scarves have hit my shop today - I am very happy with them. Great little winter accessory for the kids this winter. Also my poncho is finished and listed for sale. The sewing room is looking much better, though we have now decided to swap rooms with the guest room so looks like I will be packing it all up and doing it all over again - oh well, at least it will be right next to my office so I can pop from sewing machine to computer with about 5 or 6 steps. Happy crafting !!!!!!
